Trauma Treatment
Trauma treatment focuses on helping clients process distressing memories and reduce their emotional intensity. Treatment modalities include EMDR to safely reprocess traumatic experiences, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) to organize and make sense of life events, and IFS to work with parts of yourself that carry pain or protective strategies. Together, these approaches help restore a sense of safety, clarity, and emotional balance, allowing you to reconnect with your authentic self and build resilience.
Complex Trauma & CPTSD
CPTSD treatment addresses the pervasive impact of prolonged or repeated trauma on identity, relationships, and emotional regulation. Goals include strengthening self-compassion, rebuilding trust, enhancing resilience, and restoring a coherent sense of self. Interventions include EMDR and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) to process layered traumatic memories, IFS to work with protective and wounded parts, and CBT/DBT strategies to improve emotional regulation and boundary-setting. Additional approaches focus on mindfulness, grounding exercises, and psychoeducation to help clients understand trauma’s effects on the mind and body, while narrative and expressive exercises support reintegration of personal history and empowerment.
Eating Disorder Treatment
Treatment for eating disorders focuses on restoring a healthy relationship with food and body while addressing the underlying emotional and cognitive patterns that contribute to disordered eating. Goals include fostering self-compassion, increasing emotional awareness, strengthening autonomy, and building sustainable coping strategies. Interventions often include CBT and DBT skills to manage cravings, emotions, and self-critical thoughts, ACT exercises to clarify values and encourage meaningful action, mindfulness and somatic practices to improve body awareness, and psychoeducation about nutrition, body image, and self-care. Behavioral rehearsal and structured goal-setting support lasting change and prevent relapse.
Adolescent Therapy
Adolescence can be a challenging phase, and Hecht Counseling provides specialized therapy for adolescents. Our therapist offers a compassionate and understanding approach to address the unique emotional and developmental needs of teenagers. We strive to create a supportive space where adolescents can navigate challenges and build resilience.
Stage-of-Life Transitions
Life transitions—whether expected or sudden—can feel overwhelming and leave you feeling stuck or unsure of your next steps. Together, we work on practical tools to manage emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, clarify values, and make intentional changes that support growth and resilience. Therapy is a collaborative process designed to help you adapt to change and move forward with greater confidence and balance.
Low Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem can shape how you see yourself, your relationships, and your ability to take risks or trust your own voice. The goal of therapy is to identify and shift self-critical thought patterns, build emotional regulation and self-compassion skills, and strengthen a sense of identity grounded in your values rather than fear or comparison. Therapy focuses on practical, meaningful changes that help you develop confidence, self-respect, and a more balanced relationship with yourself.
